Amanda's Analects (an·a·lects..selected miscellaneous written passages) Waiting
One way or another, most of us seem to be waiting for something. We may be working hard, aiming high, aware that happiness and fulfilment don't come with the next goal, the next relationship - the next anything. Yet, for many of us, there seems to be something more, something out there that we await. No matter how much responsibility we take for our own lives, it often seems as if life has its own agenda. As if there is a course for us, each one of us, and we must trust and wait it out to see what is coming. Yet which of us has that patience? Which of us has that time? How often do we try to force the issue, hurry the pace, interfere with the process? How many of us are more concerned about when our life will begin -- than when it will end? With anticipation come desire and expectations. And with these come action. We shift into gear and are on our way. But, is this THE Way, or is it our bias for action in play? In our culture it's tough to wait, to trust, to be open and alert to the more subtle messages, the signal that it is our time. If it were your time, would you know it? Or could you pass by the very thing you have been anticipating for so long because your mind is so busy, so focused on what you think it will be and how it will happen? If this were your time, would you be ready?
