Gifts and Talents

It is said that 'you will be known for what you give, not for what you receive'.

Funny how things appear "out of the blue", coming along at just the right moment, as if tapping us on the shoulder.

That's what happened to me today. I opened my e-mail and there it was ...Charles Schulz's reminder that "Life is like a ten speed bicycle. Most of us have gears we never use."

We've all likely spent some time over the last few weeks reviewing college calendars, training schedules. We may even have considered the seductive offers of ‘on-line learning'.

Yet, each of us already has many gifts and talents to use and share with others. How many of us are using them? How many, like the gears on a bicycle, have never been tried?

I'm not suggesting we shouldn't continue to learn. Far from it. But what better way to learn, than to teach? What better way to get, than to give?

As we wonder what more we can do to make the last few months of this millennium count - why not start from where we are - with what we've got?

I know I shall. How about you?
